- Step 1: Choosing Your Container
The pot you choose will need
to be temperature appropriate for
where you intend it to be: indoors
or outdoors.
- Step 2: Preparing Your Container
Be sure your container has adequate
drainage holes and then obtain a potting
soil mix in an amount that is easy
to lift or maneuver.
- Step 3: Structuring Your Container
Most containers have a central focus
point that can either be in the back
or very center of the pot with plants
in descending heights located towards
the outside edges.

- Step 4: Designing Your Container
Always considering the plants environmental
requirements, decide on the mood you
want to set by using harmonious, or
contrasting colors according to the
color wheel, experimenting with varying
color shades, textures and green foliage
to separate or highlight your base
colors.

- Step 5: Planting Your Container
Fill the pot 2/3 of the way full and
then start with the largest plant,
gently removing the plastic pot, and
putting it in place, keeping its soil
line at 1" below the rim of the
pot. Plant largest to smallest, being
sure to step back occasionally to
check placement accuracy. Gently press
all plants into place and fill in
any spaces between roots with soil,
being sure not to raise the level
of soil around the base of the plant
stems. Now fertilize, water thoroughly
and ENJOY!
