Ceramic pots

A ceramic pot will not be used on a stove top. They are most commonly seen as bake ware or within a slow cooker. Ceramic can handle high amounts of heat but will scorch if it is placed in direct contact with a heating element.
When used as bake ware ceramic is a good choice for casseroles. Ceramic heats slowly but will keep an item warm for a long period. Ceramic is usually easier to clean than traditional aluminum. Ceramic does not work very well for baking bread products.

Slow cookers usually come with a ceramic or aluminum insert. Ceramic will last longer and is easier to clean. This is especially important because slow cookers tend to have a bigger baked on mess than pots and pans. Soaking the insert in warm soapy water for a couple of hours will help break up the stuck-on food.
